Attic Insulation Questions

We've found so many attics with a hodgepodge of insulation, new and old, with either missing, deteriorated or just loosely thrown in, blown in, or it's just shoved in here and there, and not a bit of uniform depth.

This room or area is hotter than that one, you call the AC company and they say you need a bigger unit or ducting, or they need to balance it out with the dampeners (if they're there). Wait a minute.

1. Has anyone shown you actual pictures of your attic?

2. Has anyone measured the air flow and temperature of each vent?

3. Is there ample ventilation, east & west facing walls (Gable), above ceiling insulated?

4. Are there ducts leaking or their insulation deteriorated?

We've been in new homes where the Home Inspector (you sign a waiver for missing things), has missed having ample insulation, or it even being there, especially when it requires crawling through a maze and getting dirty.

And the home owner is now spending a lot of money, for?

Ask about these things before you spend a penny.
