Attic Insulation FAQ

We've found so many attics with a hodgepodge of insulation, new and old, with either missing, deteriorated or just loosely thrown in, blown in, or it's just shoved in here and there, and not a bit of uniform depth.

This room or area is hotter than that one, you call the AC company and they say you need a bigger unit or ducting changes, or they need to balance it out with the dampeners (if they're there). Wait a minute.

1. Has anyone shown you actual pictures of your attic?

2. Has anyone measured the air flow and temperature of each vent?

3. Is there ample attic ventilation, are the east & west facing Gable walls (Gable) treated?

4. Are there ducts leaking or the insulation deteriorated with large voids and gaps?

We've been in brand new homes, newly purchased existing homes, remodels and additions where the Home or Code Inspector (Home inspectors y

have you sign a waiver that missing things is acceptable), have missed having up-to-code insulation, or it even being there, especially when it requires crawling through a maze and getting dirty. And the home owner is now spending a lot of money, for something the contractor did not fulfill and the inspector left out too.  Ask about these things before you spend a penny.
